Compass School Manager


Dear Parents/Guardians,


We are excited to announce that Mount Ridley College will be moving to Compass to host our Parent and Student Portal as of Monday 2nd November 2015. Using Compass allows you to access up-to-date and meaningful information about our College and your child’s progress. Compass includes many different features, including the ability to:


  • ·         Monitor your child’s attendance, and enter approval for absence or lateness,
  • ·         Communicate with your child’s teacher, and update your family contact details,
  • ·         View your child’s timetable and the school calendar, (2016)
  • ·         Monitor your child’s homestudy and assessment tasks,
  • ·         Download and view your child’s progress and semester reports,
  • ·         Book parent-teacher conferences (2016), and
  • ·         Pay and provide consent for events, excursions, incursions, Essential Education Items, electives etc. (2016)


Compass is a web-based system that is accessible on any modern web browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari) or by using the Compass iOS or Android Apps. Search for ‘Compass School Manager’ in the App store.


To access Compass follow the directions below

1) Click on Compass from our main website


2) From this new screen click at the bottom of the login field 'Can't access your account?'



3) Enter your normal username, just drop the 'F', and follow the directions associated. If your email address has changed, and the school is unaware, please continue to refer to step 5.



4) If you are unsure of your username, click 'I don't know my username', and follow the prompted responses. If your details have changed, and the school is unaware, please continue to step 5.



5) If you are still unable to access, plese send an email through to or alternatively contact main administration who will be able to assist accordingly.


Upon first login, you will be required to change your password and confirm your email address and mobile phone number. These details may be used by the school for password recovery and email communication throughout the year.  If you have lost your details or forgotten your password, you can recover your details by clicking the ‘Don’t know your username/Forgot your password?’ link on the front page.



The full suite of modules that Compass offers will be implemented over the coming months, as we head into 2016. This new program eliminates the need for the previously used Konnective app, which will be phased out in 2016, as all communication can now be held within one application. You may find that access to the current Parent Portal may lapse towards the end of October, however please note that we are trying to minimise any interruptions to access. Please login when the new program goes live on Monday 2nd, November and explore what Compass has to offer. As always if you have any concerns or questions please do not hesitate to email;

Information Communications Technology

We have an extensive College wide Information Network which connects every classroom and offers all students access to a rich resource and content. Access to MRC Connect is available from home as a communication device to strengthen the link between home and school. Our commitment to Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is reflected in the College Strategic Planning.

ICT is integrated across the curriculum. Students are introduced to the concept of technology as a vehicle for research, composition, communication, information storage and sharing. They gain a perspective of ICT as continuous development and experience how it can assist them in various aspects of learning and interacting in an increasingly technological world. They gain an appreciation of how ICT can positively impact on learning experiences and are encouraged to be mindful of the effects it can have on daily life. The Students learn about cyber safety including appropriate email and Internet use and exposure to supervised social media.

Mount Ridley College provides:

  • Flexible integration of ICT into learning activities. Students and teachers have the ability to engage in “access anywhere anytime” ICT for learning through the use of mobile technologies. Classrooms incorporate flexible physical learning environments that cater for the diverse teaching and learning styles.

  • Students with opportunities to collaborate/share/and communicate both within and outside the college. Students use ICT to work independently, manage their learning & contribute to one another’s learning. ICT has a positive impact on student’s attitude towards learning.
  • Students the opportunity to apply their ICT capabilities to support their learning through visualising thinking, creating and communicating across all curriculum areas. Students connect, communicate, and collaborate with peers and teachers using the school intranet, forums, email, blogs, wikis and learning management systems. Students also access online digital resources to support learning.

We are very proud and excited to have a 1:1 Device Program across the entire College.

Our students are members of a generation who have a high degree of technological awareness and demonstrate a capacity to learn effectively and efficiently using technology. We believe it is important for educators to offer students opportunities to become skilled in using ICT tools and programs that will play a major role in their current and future learning. Indeed, learning must be relevant and allow students to be inquisitive and creative. For this a College wide 1:1 program is being devised to cater for the needs of students at Mount Ridley College.

The introduction of iPads at the Prep level has resulted in enhancing the learning opportunities of our younger students. Given this success and the fact that Year 10 students have enjoyed the opportunity of utilising their personal computers for the past 2 years, the College is looking forward to rolling out a one-to-one device program across all other year levels in 2014.

The 1:1 program is part of our long term plan to engage students in learning and will be used as an explicit learning tool to do the following:

  • Develop the ability of students to demonstrate that they are ‘ICT literate’ by being able to transfer knowledge and skills and apply it to new technologies and situations.
  • Access interactive learning via the web based programs.
  • To provide students with a choice of how to create and submit their work.
  • Explore creative tools for showcasing the learning styles of students.
  • Communicate within and beyond the College as part of an interactive approach to learning.
  • Encourage a connectedness between home and school to support learning for students and families.
  • For students to have 24/7 access to their learning.



Why a tablet/iPad device for 1:1?

  • Students are able to choose the type of product they construct to demonstrate their understanding through the use of different apps.
  • A personal device and reasonably priced to act as a 1 to 1, anywhere, anytime learning device.

  • The touch interface correlates to the technology that students use in their everyday life and allows a high level of interactivity.
